Mary & Dustin | Owasso Engagement Photography It's hard to believe we had snow on the ground just two short weeks ago after the last few days of 60 degree spring weather.  We were excited to wake up to snow on this Sunday morning, just in time for a quick engagement session in the snow.  Dustin actually proposed to Mary on his property on a snowy walk last November so this made our session extra special!  I had an amazing time with them and can not wait for their upcoming July wedding.

Mr & Mrs Malugani | Tulsa Wedding Photography The weather and location were absolutely perfect for this 2018 spring wedding with Danielle and Stephen.  Dresser Mansion never disappoints!  Their day was filled with love and so many special moments.  From their first look, to reading letters from each other before the ceremony and prayers together it was certainly a day to remember. What an honor it was to be with Danielle and Stephen and capture their spectacular day as they began their journey as Mr. & Mrs. Malugani.

Emily | Claremore Senior Photography The sun is shining and the weather is gorgeous today.  It makes me hopeful for spring and with spring comes senior pictures!  One of my favorite spring senior photo sessions from last spring was with Emily.  We had an amazing time in downtown Tulsa with her and her family, including her dad's classic car.

It's not too early to start thinking about spring senior photos.  Weekend sessions will fill up fast.  Email me at for more information or to book your spring senior session.

Mr & Mrs Marshall | Broken Arrow Wedding Photography It's no secret that I usually am dreadfully behind on updating the blog, but nearly a year behind is probably the longest.  Dana & Garrett's fall wedding from 2017 was simply beautiful at Greenleaf Barn in Broken Arrow.  Here are a few of our favorites from their special day.

Fall Senior Photos | Owasso & Tulsa Senior Photographer Calling all 2019 seniors!  It's time to start thinking about those fall senior sessions.  The weather is (finally) starting to cool down and it won't be long before the leaves start to change colors.

It's no secret that we love senior sessions.  There's no amount on the limit of creativity when it comes to your senior photos.  Bring your dog or cat (yes, we've had a cat before).  Are you in band?  Bring your instrument.  We've set up drums in fields and downtown Tulsa, guitars in the back of pickup trucks and cars, keyboards in parking lots...  If you play it, bring it.  Others have brought items that are important to them like skateboards, books, comic book collections and even pumpkins.

Here are just a few of our favorite senior sessions from last season.  The best part is the variety.  Even in the same location, no session is the same.

We have several spots open for September and October.  If you are ready to book your fall senior session contact us at

Mr & Mrs Bell | Claremore Wedding Photography I love Oklahoma.  I don't love it's crazy, hard to predict weather especially on wedding days.  On a day that was forecasting 80% chance of rain all day we were blessed with crazy perfect-for-outdoor-photos weather.

Andrew & Kylie - Thanks for letting us shoot your wedding.  It was absolutely beautiful and full of love, laughter, and special moments.

Here's to the new Mr. & Mrs. Bell.

Andrew + Kylie | Owasso Engagement Photography I am SO super excited that we get to work with this amazing couple!  Andrew and Kylie were so flexible when we had to reschedule their first engagement session date because of Oklahoma's crazy wind and we almost had to reschedule a second time when a rainy day threatened to ruin our plans.  Thankfully the rain stopped and the sun came out.

Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa did not disappoint for the perfect backdrop for Andrew and Kylie.  In just five short weeks they will say "I do" and I am so ready to capture their special day.

Kennedy, Zoë, & Journey | Owasso Family Photography I absolutely LOVE getting to capture these sweet girls every year!  They truly have the best personalities and working with them is such a fun and sweet adventure every single time.  We could not have picked a better day or location for their pictures this spring.  Downtown Tulsa never disappoints and I love when a location just fits a session so well.  I have to say that these are probably my most favorite photos of them since the yellow dresses we did a few years ago.  It's not even right that they have grown up so much!

We had to document Zoë and her green Crocs.  I'm pretty sure the last 3 years they have made an appearance in each session that we have done.   Sweet, sweet girls!  Kennedy, Journey and Zoë are looking way too grown up here!

I couldn't resist adding this photo of my hot hubby and adorable boy.  Sessions are definitely more fun when I get to have them come along.  And baby wearing men are really the best ever.

Baby J Bump | Owasso Family Photography It's been awhile since I've had a baby bump in front of my camera and I was more than thrilled to spend a Saturday afternoon with Natasha, Caleb and their cute little baby belly.  It is always an honor to capture moments for my friends, but this one was a super special HUGE honor.  A year ago Natasha and Caleb were told they had a 1% chance of getting pregnant.  ONE PERCENT.  If anyone needs proof that there is a God and He is good and He answers prayers, here it is.

2016 Year In Review | Owasso Photography 2016 has been an amazing year here at TC Yates Photography!  We have enjoyed being a part of every single family, couple, and senior that we have been able to work with.  As 2017 begins I am excited at the sessions we already have on the calendar and looking forward to adding more.  Here is a look at all that we have been a part of.

What a joy it was to work with these families this year!  From lifestyle (my favorite!!), sweet grandkids, updated family photos, to Christmas sweaters, I loved every one of these sessions with friends.

Congrats to these amazing 2016 and 2017 seniors that we got to work with this year (plus CCS banquet and one sweet 16 session).  Graduating high school is such a fun time and senior photos are a great way to capture this monumental moment.  Such an honor to capture this time for them.

Weddings, engagements, and couples. Oh my!  Favorite, favorite, favorite!  As we move into 2017 TCYP is going to be focusing more on weddings and engagements.  My passion definitely falls in this category, for sure.  There is nothing more special to me than seeing couples in love and capturing these moments in time for them.  Knowing that their engagement and wedding photos will grace their walls for years to come is such a joy and honor.

If we have had the pleasure of working with you this year (or any year!) we would love for you to leave a comment on our website.  We have many reviews on Facebook but would love to update our website to include your words for others to read.  Click here to visit our guestbook to leave a comment or review.

Jud & Julie | Tulsa Engagement Photography Wrapping up blogging the last of all of our 2016 sessions.  We ended our season with this amazing couple's engagement photos.  The weather could not have been any more perfect on this beautiful November day.  In all of my years of shooting sessions I don't think we have ever had leaves that looked as pretty as they did on the trees on Jud's property in Jay, OK.

We enjoyed getting to capture Jud & Julie's love for each other on the land they will build their house on.  I am SO looking forward to capturing their September 2017 wedding.

the grandkids | Tulsa Family Photography Our last family session of the year could not have been any better.  The Hensley's needed to update their photos with their grandkids since in the last few years they have added 2 more grandkids to their family.  These kiddos could not have been any cuter or well behaved.  We zipped through a ton of poses and a few spots at Gilcrease Museum with no tears at all.  Of course, we had to stop to take some silly pictures in between the "real" pictures.  Hopefully it was as fun for them as it was for us!

Amber & Freddie | Owasso Wedding Photography I could not have picked a better wedding to end the year with than Amber & Freddie's.  Putting into words the sweet intimacy of the day is difficult, but I will try. From the details, the decorations, the thoughtful touches, prayer before the ceremony, foot washing ceremony, Freddie's video for Amber, their vows...  I wiped away tears more than once.

It was apparent throughout the day that this was more than just a ceremony or party.  It was a celebration of the sanctity of marriage and the redemptive work of allowing the Lord to be the center of their union and to lead and direct in every area of their lives.  Each wedding I shoot holds special moments that I am honored to be part of in capturing and I say that they are all my favorite.  But truly, this was my favorite.  I hope that as Amber and Freddie look back at the pictures from their wedding day, they will see and feel like they are right back in these moments.

Congrats to the new Mr. & Mrs. Robles!

We might be a little crazy when all three of us are together.  I'll admit that it's fun to be on the other side of the camera if only for just a shot or two.  :)

the Ekedals | Claremore Family Photography Catching up on blogging some beautiful family photos from this fall season.  We sure do love the Ekedal family!  It is always such a joy to spend time with them and an honor to be able to capture their family again this fall season.  The best part of our job is getting to spend time with people that truly feel like family when we are around them.  We had so much fun on this afternoon at Gilcrease Museum.  The weather did not disappoint and the leaves were just starting to turn their beautiful colors.  Tim did his job well getting natural smiles as he joked with them all.  :)

Sage & Dally | Claremore Wedding Photography What a GORGEOUS day it was for Sage & Dally's wedding!  Such an honor to capture this special day for two people that are such a treasure to my family.  I can't believe what an absolute stunning bride Sage was.  The family property was the perfect backdrop as these two said their vows in front of family and friends.  Congratulations to the new Mr & Mrs Gainer.  And I have to say, their hashtag #gainalittlelove may be the cutest I've seen yet.

The most adorable little flower girl, but I may be slightly partial being that she's mine.  :)

the Rutherfords | Owasso Family Photography What a joy it is to spend time every fall photographing this fun and funky family!  I love, love, LOVE that this year they chose to wear Christmas sweaters for their Christmas card photos.  Out of all the times we have done photos for the Rutherfords, I feel like this year truly captured their personalities.

Melissa & Ross | Claremore Wedding Photography I was more than ecstatic when Melissa contacted me to do their wedding photos.  Although, I must admit it is a little surreal that this beautiful woman is even old enough to be getting married.  To me she should still be the adorable girl in my 6th grade classroom.  I'm not entirely sure how I feel about all these kids that I used to teach growing up and getting married.  But I do know that I love getting to be part of their special day.

Melissa, you were a stunning bride and your wedding was simply beautiful.

Marissa & Zach | Owasso Family Photography What a joy to spend this perfect Monday evening celebrating Marissa & Zach's one year wedding anniversary.  We even started their session close to the same time that they had their wedding ceremony.  Capturing a couple's love for one another is possibly one of my favorite things to do.  This session was even more special because we were able to take photos on the property that Marissa & Zach recently purchased and will soon begin building their house on.

The Hinckleys I love when I get asked to do a session that isn't always in the "norm".  A few weeks ago we were invited over by the Hinckleys to go swimming and I immediately fell in love with their home.  The lighting, gorgeous.  Decor, simple yet beautiful.  And the neutral colors, my favorite.  All of it.

We talked about doing a more lifestyle type session, which is one of my favorites because I don't get to do them that often. I can't say enough how much I love lifestyle sessions.  People, especially kids, are SO much more relaxed in their own environment.  They are especially meaningful because I get to capture families in the space that they live in, their home, just as it is in that moment.

Cynthia also asked for some updated photos to use for business.  If you are local to the Owasso, OK area you MUST schedule a massage with her at In Balance Spa.  You can also find her on Facebook at In Balance Spa Owasso.

Spring 2016 in Review About every six months I realize that I make up some excuse as to why I am so bad about remembering to blog.  Poor little blog.  Forgotten and all alone.  I actually sat down and blogged a session yesterday then looked back to see when my last blog post was published.  December 2015.  And it was a year in review post.  Because I had not blogged hardly a single session during the busy fall season.  <insert eye roll here>

This time I think that I could possibly have the best reason of all.  Nothing like adding another baby to the family to keep me busy and away from the computer.

Maybe, just maybe, if I publicly commit to being better about featuring my amazing friends and clients on the blog, I might, MIGHT actually do it.  SO, here I am saying that I promise to keep updated this season.  :)

With that being said, here is a peek at all the fun sessions we had last spring.  Weddings, families, couples, banquet, engagements and senior sessions!  I decided to feature at least a few of my favorite shots from every session that we had since December 2015.

Aaron is TWO What a joy it was to capture this sweet little one for his second birthday.  His momma and I have been friends forever.  For real.  Forever meaning since the day we met while working at Walmart way back in 1998.  It's amazing that she has put up with me for so long!

But seriously, besides my own two sweet boys, her kiddos have to be the handsomest.

Here is Aaron, her youngest.  It's hard to believe that he just turned two years old.  It seems like just yesterday that I was at his house taking his newborn pictures.

Aaron really has the BEST faces!  This look on the left says, "I know you made up this game just to get me to try and sit semi still for a picture."  At least it worked!

See, these two are handsome!  Poor Andrew was trying his best to get Aaron to sit still.  Being a big brother can be hard.

And finally, a few funny shots, because this is what really happens when you are trying to get pictures of a two year old.

Danielle was such a gorgeous, easy-going bride.  I'm not sure I could have stayed as calm as her with all of the rain.  We were all so thankful that it stopped long enough to take some pictures before the ceremony.  The rain came pouring down right as they kissed and we all dashed inside before getting too soaked!

Here are a few of my favorites from their big day.

Finally getting around to posting photos of Tanner and Naysa's AMAZING wedding day!  I could make up some great big excuse as to why it's taken me so long to get to this, but the truth is I'm just terrible about blogging.

I know I say that every wedding is the best and that I had a blast, but seriously.  The. Best. Ever.  So many details that were just perfect.  And the bride... GORGEOUS!  Tanner and Naysa are just adorable together and so so sweet.  Their wedding day is what dreams are made of and I truly am honored and blessed that I get to capture these moments.

Megan | Owasso Wedding Photography I'm so excited to finally get to share these photos of the gorgeous Megan!  We had so much fun doing this bridal session in the same location as her and Aaron's engagement session.

If I had my way, I would do a bridal session with all of the weddings that we shoot.  First, they are fun.  Second, it's sort of like a dress rehearsal for the big day for not only photos, but also for hair, makeup and even flowers.  Third, we get a chance to be relaxed and capture plenty of photos of the bride in her wedding dress that are often missed or rushed on the actual day of her wedding.

Purification Dryer Balls | Young Living Essential Oils One of the questions I get asked the most is "How do you use essential oils around your house?".  Today's post is quick and simple!  Purification essential oil is one of my favorite oils.  I use it in the diffuser when I want my house to smell fresh and clean.  I also will add a few drops to my washer if I've let a load of laundry sit for too long before putting it in the dryer.

And recently I have discovered these SoSoft Wool dryer balls.  I LOVE them!  I add a drop or two of Young Living Purification to each ball, toss them in the dryer with my wet clothes and they come out smelling SO yummy and clean.  Plus these dryer balls help my old dryer out by tossing my clothes around a little better and drying them faster.  Can't beat that!

I found these wool dryer balls on Amazon and love them:

RayJ & Marcella | Owasso Engagement Photography Kudos to this fabulous couple for braving the cold weather and snow last weekend!  Their official engagement photos aren't scheduled until April, but Marcella was totally on board when I asked her if she wanted to do some snow pictures.  I'm so glad they were willing to come out and play.  These two are absolutely adorable together!

I can't wait for their September wedding!

Around The House | Owasso Family Photography In an effort to take more photos of my own kids this year I've decided to start a series of blog posts simply titled "Around the House".  I really do enjoy lifestyle photos because they are so simple and require no posing.  It's just life.  Captured in the moment, no asking for a cheesy smile.  Just let momma creep around and snap your picture.  Ha!  But seriously, these are the moments that speak to me, that melt my heart, and that I want to remember for years to come.

I walked in to see this the other morning.  I was so thankful that I've been in the habit of leaving my camera by the TV so that I could capture this sweet moment between brother and sister.  And it's also proof that once in awhile they do get along and can share the iPad.

Two weeks ago we had a sweet little visitor come stay with us for a couple of days.  Both kids adore baby S and were so happy to have her with us!

How We Are Surviving Seasonal Sickness | Essentially Well Mommas If you have kids that leave your house at all, I'm sure that at some point during the winter you will experience some sort of winter seasonal sickness.  Somewhere over the last week my three year old caught the flu.  As soon as we go back from the ER we started oiling up.  Here is what we used to help us get through the flu.

For the three year old I started by applying Thieves oil to her feet along with Peppermint oil and Lemon oil for fever.  I also applied Peppermint and Lemon oil (diluted with grapeseed oil) along her spine for fever.  I did this every four hours along with 1/2 teaspoon of Sambucol black elderberry syrup.  I used Thieves Spray to mist the couch and beds that she slept on and Thieves cleaner to clean all the doorknobs, bathroom and anything else she may have touched while contagious.  By day 3 she was fever free and acting like her normal self!

For our six year old I tried to keep him away from his sister.  I applied Thieves oil to his feet every four hours along with 1 tsp of Sambucol black elderberry syrup.  We are on day 4 and he has not shown any symptoms yet.

For myself I took Sambucol black elderberry tablets every 4 hours along with capsules of Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus radiata, Frankincense, Lemongrass, Oregano, Peppermint and Thieves.  I also drank 2-4 ounces of Ningxia Red on day one and two and am now just drinking 1-2 ounces a day.

We used all three diffusers in our house (one in each of the kids' rooms and one in our living room) to diffuse Thieves and Peppermint oil continuously for the first two days and now am just diffusing in the living room during the day and at night in the kids' rooms.  I have one Young Living diffuser and two Now diffusers.  My favorite is the one pictured above!  It holds a lot of water and actually is like a mini humidifier that you can put essential oils in.

I am convinced that all of this has helped us get through and kept the rest of the family from catching the flu from our three year old!

Here is a list of all that we used along with info on where to find them:

Now Foods Ultrasonic Wood Grain Oil Diffuser, 1.6 Pound

Beauty Aura 100% Pure Grapeseed Oil, Cold Pressed 16 Fl Oz

Sambucol Original Liquid Black Elderberry 7.8 fl.oz

Sambucol Cold and Flu Relief Tablets, Black Elderberry, 30 Count

Sheridan | Owasso Senior Photography To say that I love this girl would be a serious understatement!  It is always such an honor to be able to work with people that we consider family and Sheridan (and her family) are definitely family to us.  She is beautiful in every way, both inside and out.  I had a hard time choosing favorites for her blog post, so be prepared for photo overload!

Those eyelashes!  I would LOVE to have those gorgeous lashes.  People, those are all hers, too.
This next one is classic Sheridan.  :)

Josiah's Journey Continued | A Personal Story So many people have asked us over the last almost 7 weeks how we are doing.  It is a hard question to answer.  Many that know me well know that I often feel at a loss for words even in normal conversations, it is even more so whenever the topic of Josiah comes up.  I have always been good at keeping a journal, not so much in recent years, but it has always been an outlet for me to freely express what I am feeling.  It has always been easier for me to communicate by writing.

So to answer the question "How are you doing?", I can say most days we are doing pretty well.  We have eased back into our pre-Josiah life, taking one day at a time.  For me there are moments where I will be going throughout my day and something will remind me of our time with Josiah.  It will hit me that I gave birth to a beautiful son, we had 18 days with him in the hospital, and he died.  The grieving process has been an interesting walk for me.  I know that just like I felt carried by the Lord while we had Josiah, it is the same now.

A good friend reminded me of a verse last night that has been helpful.  Isaiah 57:1-2 "The righteous pass away; the godly often die before their time.  And no one seems to care or wonder why.  No one seems to understand that God is protecting them from the evil to come.  For the godly who die will rest in peace."  I find comfort in knowing that Josiah is no longer in pain and will not have to feel the pain and suffering of so many things that we go through in life.  And even better than that, he gets to spend his time in the presence of God.  So while I miss him here on earth, I know there is no better place for him to be.

I recently went through all of our pictures that we took so that we could print them off and put into an album.  I came across these photos of the day that Tim and I got to hold Josiah for the first time.  Of the 18 days that Josiah was alive, I was able to hold him 8 times.  So each photo of us getting to hold him is so very precious.  My last post about Josiah (you can read it here if you missed it) ended with a photo of the last time I held him.  So this time I'll share the very first time we held him.  I will warn you that I am crying (tears of joy) but it's an "ugly cry".  You should feel special that I'm sharing it with you.  ;)

This is part of my story.  I had a son named Josiah, he lived for 18 days and he is in heaven now.  Every time I speak that out it gets easier to talk about it.

"Though the sky is dark, and the wind is wild, You'll never leave me, You'll never leave me.  Though the night is long, there is a coming dawn, the light is breaking, the light is breaking."

Josiah's Journey | A Personal Story This may possibly be one of the most difficult posts I have had to write.  Many of you may know that we gave birth to our third child on September 15th.  We knew that he would be born with a heart defect and would be facing surgery within the first week of his life.  You can read more about his diagnosis here.

As a photographer it will not be a surprise that I highly value photos.  We had already arranged to have newborn photos of Josiah taken whenever we would get to come home from the hospital.  A few days before his surgery I contacted a photographer's group I am in to see if there was anyone available to come take photos to document our time in NICU.  I was so excited that Jessica Dale Photography was able to come on such short notice!

We spent the first 8 days of Josiah's life in this room.  Seven of those eight days I was able to hold Josiah once a day for at least 30 minutes (and once for 3 hours!).  I had a hard time picking which photos to share, so get ready for photo overload.

This picture shows pretty much how those first 8 days in NICU went for us.  We would get to hold him at some point during the day, but we spent so much time watching the monitors to see how his breathing and heart rate were doing.

Josiah's open heart surgery took place on September 23, just 8 days after he was born.  We created a Facebook page to keep all of our friends and family up to date not only for the surgery, but for all of the events before and after.  So much took place that it would be hard for me to put it all in one blog post! Feel free to go to his page, Josiah's Heart Journey, to see the photos and read more about the day-to-day happenings while in NICU and PICU.

I mentioned above that as a photographer I highly value photos.  Little did we know or even imagine that these photos would become priceless and irreplaceable.  Eighteen days after Josiah was born, on Friday, October 3rd, his heart failed and he passed away.  I am so thankful that we had photos taken of our time with Josiah before he had surgery.

I don't feel that I can adequately describe all that Tim and I went through in those 18 days.  From the beginning we prayed that the Lord would heal Josiah.  We had faith that it could either take place with supernatural healing or through the surgeon's hands with surgery.  We always ended our prayers with asking for God's will in the whole situation.  A friend of ours from church had prayed over me a few weeks before Josiah was born.  She talked about the faith that Moses' mom had to have before placing him in the basket and sending him down the river, trusting that the Lord would get her baby where he needed to be taken care of.  That was a word I hung onto during our 18 days in the hospital with Josiah.  I had to daily (sometimes hourly) release Josiah into the Lord's hands and trust in Him.  Did our journey with Josiah take place the way I wanted it to?  No, it didn't.  But I still believe that in everything there was a purpose, that in only 18 days Josiah's Journey has been able to do and is still doing more than I could ever have imagined.  It has been hard, we are still grieving the loss of our precious baby boy, but we are surrounding by overwhelming peace and comfort that I can't even explain.

A picture is worth a thousand words.  This has never meant more to me than after seeing this photo taken by my dad as I was able to hold Josiah one last time before he took his last breath.

Fundraiser Update | Josiah's Heart Journey

First we would like to thank all of our friends and family for your support, both financially and in prayer, for our sweet family and soon-to-be born baby boy, Josiah!  Many of you have already heard the news that Josiah has been diagnosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome.  If you missed that post or would like to read more about what this heart condition is you can read about it here.

We have several fundraisers going on right now to help us raise the funds that will be needed to get through the 3 open heart surgeries that Josiah will be needing within the first 2 years of his life, with the first one being between 7-10 days after he is born around September 16th.

The first fundraiser we have going is for these amazing mounted art prints that were designed by Jenn & Tonic

They are available in white or blue, with or without Josiah's name in the heart and in 5x7 or 8x10.  To order you can click on the PayPal button below to choose your size, color, and name option.  These are ready to set on a shelf or put in a frame!

The second fundraiser we have going is for t-shirts using the same design as the prints above.  Available in toddler, youth, adult and plus sizes.  Order deadline for the t-shirts will be midnight August 24th.  We will have them in and ready for pickup/delivery/mail by the first week of September.  Click here to order a t-shirt to support Josiah.

The third fundraiser going on right now is to simply donate to our GoFundMe page.  We love and appreciate all of our friends and family for helping us through this difficult time.  Any and all support is so greatly appreciated!!!

Josiah's Journey This is going to be a bit of a personal post for our family here at TC Yates Photography.  We love all of our clients and followers and would like for you to know what we are facing as we get ready to give birth to Yates baby #3, Josiah William.

At 28 weeks we discovered that Josiah has what is called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome.  I am in no way a medical professional so I will try my best to describe what that is, as we understand it.  In Josiah's case he has a left ventricle, but it is not pumping blood to his body as it should and the mitral valves are also not functioning as they should.  So even though Josiah has a left ventricle, because it is not functioning he is considered a single ventricle baby.  The doctors will be able to tell more once he is born, but for right now this is the plan of action.  Once he is born we are looking at having his first open heart surgery, the Norwood procedure, between the first 7-10 days of his life.  He will not get to come home from the hospital until he has fully recovered from this surgery.  We have been told it is the most complex of the 3 procedures that he will need to have.  Down the road Josiah will need to have two more open heart procedures (the Glenn and Fontane) to prepare his right ventricle to do the work of both sides of a heart.  As we understand it the Glenn procedure will happen somewhere around 6 months of age and the Fontane around 2 years old.

As parents we know we are facing quite an ordeal and are thankful that we have had some time to prepare ourselves for this.  At the moment we are undecided on whether we will deliver Josiah and have the surgeries in Tulsa at St. Francis or if we will do all of this in OKC at OU Children's Hospital. Right now we are praying for guidance on what is best for our family and where we feel that Josiah will receive the best care.

All that being said, we have had many people ask what they can do to help us.  First, and most importantly we would appreciate your prayers as our family walks through this difficult and scary time.  We are so very thankful for the amazing support system we have in family, friends and our church.  Second, is financially.  Even before the surgeries we are already starting to feel the crunch financially as we go to doctors appointments in Tulsa and OKC.  Tim is the main provider for our family as I stay home with the kids full time and work photography on the side.  I am officially on maternity leave, only finishing up the sessions I already have on the calendar until Josiah arrives in 7 short weeks.  Since Tim has only recently started his current job we are looking at days to weeks of unpaid time off from his full time job as he helps care for our family.  We have several fundraisers in mind that our friends and family are helping arrange to assist us.

My sweet friend, Jennifer, graciously designed an 8x10 art print for us to help support and raise funds needed for medical expenses.  (See her Etsy shop here.)

A little background on the words, they are from a song I really like right now by Bethel.  You can listen to it here.  The symbol for the heart and ship wheel came from a piece of jewelry by the Vintage Pearl called "love the journey" that was only available for a limited time.  The ship wheel is symbolic of navigation and purpose.  We fully believe that the Lord is going to navigate us through this journey and that in all of it there is a purpose in it.  And finally, my life verse is Ephesians 3:20 which says in the Amplified: Now to Him Who, by the power that is at work within us, is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams].

If you would like to stay up-to-date we have created a Facebook page for people to follow.  You can find it here.

Mr & Mrs Arnold | Owasso Wedding Photography What a fantastic wedding Kyle & Nicole had!  I loved the Superman theme that they carried throughout almost every detail of the wedding.  To date I can honestly say that the most interesting things happened that day, we had a torrential downpour right as the wedding started and it was still raining after the ceremony.  That didn't stop us from heading outside to get some photos in the front of the church building.  I lost a shoe completely in mud and had to walk around barefoot for the remainder of the day.  Once it did stop raining we went to a more scenic part of the church grounds where as I was giving directions to the bridal party a bug flew directly into my mouth and I was forced to swallow it because it was at the back of my throat.  Seriously, I can't make this stuff up!  It is the closest I have come to throwing up during my whole pregnancy this time!  Even with all of those bizarre things happening, it was an amazing day celebrating Kyle & Nicole.  Here are some of my favorites from their special day.

The Coates Family | Lifestyle Photography Lifestyle sessions are probably one of my most favorite sessions to shoot.  They are especially fun when there are kids.  There's no stress over getting them to "pose" or look natural for the camera.  It's all about having fun doing things that they normally do around the house.  We had lots of fun spending time with this family!

Before & After | Tulsa Engagement Photography

This was one of our last shots at the end of this gorgeous couple's engagement session last weekend.  We should have had a behind the scenes shot of this!  I was standing on this HUGE log to look down on them with my fabulous hubby/assistant holding me around the legs to help me keep my almost 7 month preggo body from losing my balance!

Anyway, here are the details:

Canon 5D Markii

Tamron 28-75mm 2.8

ISO 320

Aperture f/2.8

Shutter Speed 1/320

In Photoshop CS5 I cropped the image to add interest, ran TG Photography's "Flawless Skin" and "Euphoria" action at around 40% and Pure Photoshops actions "Hazy Baby" around 30% and "Pinch of Color" at 50%.

Life Verse | Personal ramblings from this photographer It's so easy to get caught up in the "business" side of being a photographer and post photos of sessions and events that we have photographed.  So today I'm going to get a little personal and share my life verse and what it means to me.

Ephesians 3:20 (The Amplified) - Now to Him Who, by the power that is at work within us, is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams]

To me this verse is a daily reminder that I serve a limitless God.  That anything I could dare to even ask for, think of, dream up, hope for, desire, or pray about, He can do even more than that!  That's pretty awesome!  No matter how big or small my concerns are, I know I serve a God who can accomplish it.

When I think about the vastness of that statement it makes me think of the ocean and how I feel when I stare out across the horizon, unable to see the end of it.

Product Review | Tulsa Wedding Photography I am SOOOOO excited about two new products that I have to offer our wedding clients!  The first product is our custom 5x7 box and custom flash drive for those that purchase the high resolution files of their wedding photos.

The flash drive is so awesome!  It is literally the size of a credit card and not much thicker.  The flash drive has a part at the top that pops out to insert into your computer to open up your files.

The other new wedding product available is a custom linen 8x8 album.

Each album comes in it's own sturdy, storage box.  The color of the album shown is "Tusk".  Other colors available are "Sand" and "Ebony".

The album holds 10 pages (20 sides) and each page can have 1-4 photos on it.  I love how thick the pages in this album are and overall it feels and looks luxurious, exactly what I would love to showcase my own wedding photos in!

I often joke about being a terrible product photographer, but it really is true.  I do much better with people.  These pictures really do not do justice to how awesome these products are in person!

It's pretty rare that I post this many photos from a single session, but I could not begin to even choose just a few favorites.  So enjoy the majority of the photos from John & Christina's amazing engagement session!

Christina, you are absolutely gorgeous!

Almost kisses are most definitely my favorite.  :)

Before and After | Tulsa Engagement Photography Engagement sessions are probably one of my FAVORITE sessions to shoot!  To say we had a blast with this couple would be an understatement.  Here is a quick little before and after to show the custom editing that goes into each and every photo that we edit.

Here is the photo SOOC (straight out of camera).

Canon 5D Markii

Tamron 28-75mm 2.8

ISO 400

And here is the edit.  I'll give a short walk through of how this shot was edited and even include links to where you can find some of what I used!

The first thing I did was add some clouds.  I love Oklahoma but sometimes our skies can look a little gray.

I smoothed out their skin using the "Flawless Skin" action by TG Photography.  Then I added a little color to make the sun really pop with the "Drenched" texture by Madison Vining Photography.

The last thing I did was add a little more warmth by running "A Pinch of Warming" action by Pure Photoshop Actions.

Valentine's Mini Sessions 2014
Valentine's Day mini sessions were such a blast this year!  I'm in love with this white wall at the studio.  We had some cute kiddos in this year.  Special thanks to Harper Kate's for the adorable hair bows and necklaces, Crochet Corner for the crochet hat, and Mae's By Hand for the handsome bow tie that were given for the mini sessions.  I can't wait for our next round of mini sessions.

A Little Bit of Snow As we gear up for the possibility of more snow I thought it would be an appropriate time to share some snow photos!  I firmly feel that if it's going to be freezing cold then there at least needs to be some snow on the ground.

I love that I have friends that are more than willing to grab a bunch of clothes and head outside for a little bit of fun in the snow.  We had such a blast doing these photos, but seriously, fifteen minutes outside was all my frozen little fingers could handle on this 20-something degree day.  I'm secretly hoping that we do get 3-5 inches of snow again just so I can take more pictures in this beautiful white stuff.

Lifestyle Session | Tulsa Family Lifestyle Photography There has been a trend recently in a different type of photography session called Lifestyle Photography.  I had the pleasure of being asked to do a lifestyle session back in October and I discovered that it was SO much fun!

So what is lifestyle photography?  Simply put it is photography that's purpose is to capture and document real-life events or the art of every-day life.  The thing I love most about this style of photography is how relaxed it is!  There is no posing or asking kids to smile for the camera.  It's just life, the way it is most days, in your home.

There are no rules either!  Want to capture a typical Saturday morning in your jammies drinking coffee and eating pancakes?  Fine.  Want to read books together as a family, bake cookies, have a pillow fight?  Perfect!  Whatever you choose for your lifestyle session is completely tailored to how you interact with your family.

In the following images this family wanted to have images showing how they bake cookies, play legos together and read books on mom and dad's bed.  My favorite part about this session?  Baking the cookies.  I absolutely adored how there was no pretending that mom whips out the mixer and puts together an outstanding homemade recipe of cookies that take hours to put together.  Mom pulled out a package of "place and bake" cookies, fired up the oven, and had the kids help place them on the cookie sheets to bake.  That's life and I love it!  (Personal note: that's how I bake cookies, too!)

Lifestyle sessions are also a perfect way to capture those moments with a newborn baby.  To see a newborn lifestyle session click here.

2013 Year in Review | Tulsa Family Photography As 2013 comes to an end this week, I am reminiscing over all the sessions I had this past year.  From baby bellies, babies, families, weddings, kids, engagements, and seniors I think we pretty much covered it all.  In total we had 57 sessions from January-December (this number does not include all the times I made my own kids model for pictures!).  I enjoyed every single session and truly can not wait to see what 2014 holds for TC Yates Photography!  Thank you to each and every client and friend for making this year such an amazing one.

With love,

Extra | MVP Blog Challenge As promised here is a before and after photo with how I achieved it.  Just a little extra something for your Monday!  :)

Here is the original photo, SOOC (straight out of camera).

Let me just add that it was cloudy and 31 degrees out when we took this photo yesterday afternoon!  We were only outside for around 15-20 minutes and we were both feeling a little frozen at this point.  Lucky for Sheridan she was able to pull her sweater over her fingers to keep her hands a little warmer.

Okay, here are the specs on the SOOC photo:

Camera-Canon 5D Markii

Lens-Canon 85mm f/1.8 USM

Settings-f/2.8, 1/1250, ISO 320

The first thing I did in Photoshop CS5 was run three of TG Photography's actions - Flawless Skin (60%), Sparkling Eyes (100%), and Sharp Finish (30%).  I followed up with two actions from Pure Photoshop Actions - Just a Pinch of Color (40%) and Just a Pinch of Warming (100%).  All of these are pretty much my "go to" actions right now and I LOVE the Just a Pinch set from Pure Photoshop Actions.

After I ran all those actions this is the result:

Flashback Friday | Florida Family Photos There is about 4 inches of snow outside and it is FREEZING here in Oklahoma.  I'm glad that I am in my pj's sipping on a nice hot cup of coffee inside my warm, cozy living room.  As I stare out the back door at the beautiful snow, I can't help but dream a little that we are back in Florida walking on the beach with the sun shining on us.  Being a native from Florida it has been fun getting to see the snow every winter, but I must admit that I'm not a huge fan of the cold.  The beach is in my blood.  So to warm me up a little I thought I would share a few of my favorite photos from our vacation in September.

While all of you are outside enjoying playing in the snow I am secretly dreaming that I'm sitting in the sand, listening to the waves right now.

Passion | MVP December Blog Challenge

I survived another busy fall season!  The late nights at the computer editing have been fun and interesting, but I would be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to going to bed at the same time as my hubby.

I'm participating in a December blog challenge and today's (well really it was yesterday's topic, I'm just a day behind!) is passion.  The first thing that came to mind was the question, "What am I passionate about with my photography?".  Honestly, I love capturing real moments between families, particularly those with young kids.  I know it can be a challenge to photograph smaller kids, especially when the parents are feeling stressed when they think that their kids are acting up.  Maybe it's because my own kids are young and I totally get how the parents are feeling.  But I really do love, love, LOVE working with families to get those candid moments between moms, dads, and kids!

With all of this in mind, it was no surprise to me when this family asked me to do a lifestyle session and I completely fell in love with this type of session!  It was so much fun!  I loved getting to catch the daily interactions of baking cookies, playing legos and reading books.  It was the easiest photo session EVER!  The kids were relaxed in their own environment, therefore mom and dad were relaxed and the dogs were a breeze since I was on their territory.  The best part about a lifestyle session?  It doesn't matter if it's 15 degrees outside, raining, or even snowing!  Love it!!!

I thought it was great that this mom didn't even pretend to make her own cookie dough.  Just keeping it real.  ;)  This is how we bake cookies in the Yates' house, too.

What a great way to preserve the memories of the everyday stuff around your own home!

Interested in a lifestyle session?  Book a lifestyle session in the month of December for $75 (that's $50 off a regular session fee!).  Contact me today to book.

The Saylor Girls | Claremore Senior Photography Wow!  When I got asked to take Nicki and Naysa's senior pictures I was beyond flattered!.  Then their momma Lisa came up with a TON of great ideas for their outfits, props, everything....  We picked a beautiful day, in a gorgeous location and really, words can not describe so I'll let the photos do all of the talking.  Both Nicki and Naysa are beyond beautiful, both inside and out.  I LOVE that I had the opportunity to work with them and capture this time in their lives.

The Martinez Family | Owasso Family Photographer What a joy it was to photograph this beautiful family!  I'm pretty sure these kids are the cutest tiny humans I have ever seen.  I'm not sure they knew what to think of me, but they were more than willing to stay still while I snapped a few shots of them.  And seriously, is Ana not the most gorgeous momma ever?

Baby M I had SO much fun taking baby M's newborn pictures!  Such a cute little fellow.

We all know how I feel about baby toes!  But these baby toes with mom and dad's hands are to die for.

Big brother was so so sweet with his baby brother.

The Rutherfords I love getting to take this family's photos!  One of these times I really am going to bring something to record our sessions.  I never know what is going to be said either by the girls (mom included!) or dad.  It was mom's idea to have their family photos in front of the blue whale in Catoosa this year.  I think she was really excited to have a blue whale on their Christmas cards.

These Kids Seriously.  These kids are the cutest!  I loved helping mom go shopping to coordinate all of their outfits (which really was quite an undertaking for 5 kids!).

They really did make my job look easy!  How cute are they?  (and handsome!)

Sweet sweet baby girl!

This is her "cheese" face!  This one certainly keeps mom on her toes! She even comes up with her own poses.  :)

| Claremore Family Photography I recently had the pleasure of capturing this lovely family at the Will Rogers Memorial in Claremore.  We had a great time with 5 kids under the age of 4 1/2!

Obviously getting 5 kids to look at the camera proved to be quite the challenge, but I really do love the "natural" shots.  It gives a clear picture of what life is really like.  :)

This one is my personal favorite!  I love the crying baby, the one making faces, the cutie looking at what is going on and just two of the five smiling for the camera.

A Beautiful Family My blogging has been a bit delayed lately.  Had a CRAZY month in September then went on vacation with my family last week.  I had planned to blog blog blog while I was on vacation.  What was I thinking?  The only time my laptop came out of it's bag was to play DVD's for the kids.

I couldn't resist sharing this favorite session from August with all of you, though.  I loved, loved, LOVED everything about our session with Chad, Cherokee and their beautiful kids.  The lighting was great, the location was perfect, their colors AMAZING!  It was too hard to pick just one or two favorites, so get ready to see the majority of their session.  The little girls had to be the most photogenic kiddos I've worked with.  I barely had to prompt any poses with them, they were naturals for the camera.

Nathan | Verdigris Senior 2014 I kicked off the 2014 school year with Nathan being my first senior session this fall.  I wish we could say that the weather was "fall-ish" as well, but we chose a day that was 103 degrees out!  Yikes!  In spite of the heat Nathan rocked his session.  I was particularly excited about shooting a few poses with his Bible.

Green like... For as long as Isaiah has known his colors we have had a game that goes something like this:  we say a color and he gives an example of something that is that same color.

When we started this game he was VERY into Thomas the train so it would go a little something like this:  "Blue like Thomas.  Green like Percy.  Red like James."  After the phase of Thomas came Disney Cars, Spiderman, and now the Avengers.  When I looked to see what this weeks' blog challenge was and saw that the topic was "green" the first thought that came into my head was Isaiah saying, "Green like Hulk!".

It's funny how one word can take you on an adventure into so many different places!  For fun I went to Pinterest and just typed in the search box "green".  I was overwhelmed and amazed at the pictures that popped up just from one keyword.  To see what that search brings up on Pinterest you can click here---->

The color green is a peaceful color to me.  I think of lush fields of grass, bushy trees, and growth.  We have been blessed with a rainy August this year and with that has brought beautiful green fields and trees.  Usually by this time during the summer we are only mowing our yard once a month, the grass is crispy and dry under our feet, and the leaves are dying off the trees from the heat and lack of rain.

I love this photo that I took just last weekend and how GREEN everything is!  It certainly has been a nice change from the usual Oklahoma August.

Blog Challenge: Peacefulness As part of a photography group I'm in we have been challenged to blog more.  This week the topic is "peacefulness".  I've been thinking this over for a few days now, trying to decide what peacefulness is to me.  My first thought was, "Easy, it's sleeping children.  That's peaceful."

And anyone who knows my children would agree, that seeing them asleep is definitely a peaceful moment!  But I just wasn't satisfied with that.  So then I thought, "Nature.  An open field, the breeze blowing through the trees, the sun sparkling between the blades of grass.  There's peace in that, right?"

Still not satisfied, I went to the dictionary.  Here's what Merriam-Webster's dictionary says about peacefulness:  1.  a state of freedom from storm or disturbance.  2.  freedom from disquieting thoughts or emotions.  Wow!  My mind immediately went to one of my favorite bible verses in Jeremiah 15 where the Lord says "I will give you again a settled place of quiet and safety".  And this one, too, in Psalm 4:8 "In peace I will both lie down and sleep, for You, Lord, alone make me dwell in safety and confident trust."

So I began to ponder these thoughts on peacefulness and that no matter what spin I put on it, whether it be photos of my sleeping children or photos in a beautiful field, I kept coming back to the Lord.  Ultimately He is in all of those things, creation and rest.  But true peacefulness, this freedom from storm or disturbance, disquieting thoughts or emotions, I find those things in having a relationship with God.

When I begin to feel that life is getting a little crazy, especially when my thoughts and fears start to run rampant, I find peace in reading the Bible and through worship music.

Right now I can't get away from this song!  I love, love, LOVE it.  I hope that as you listen to it that you, too, will feel the peacefulness that I feel while listening to it.  My favorite part is the verse that says:

"Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Savior"

The Digital Guide is finished! It is finally here!  Let me tell you, a lot of blood, sweat and tears went into creating this thing.  Well, not really.  But I did spend countless hours putting together our new digital guide!  It features the types of session we offer, their prices, what they include and the products that we currently offer (prints/canvases come in more sizes than I was able to list on one page).

I had fun going through photos from the last year and had a REALLY hard time picking which ones would be featured in the guide!  The hardest for me was probably the page featuring our kid sessions.  If I had to pick just one thing to photograph for the rest of my life it would be children!  But then I will do a maternity session or a senior session (or really almost all of the other sessions we offer) and I will think that is my favorite type of session to do, too.  So really, the beauty of my job is that I get to do a variety of sessions all year long!

Here are a few of the pages featured in our digital guide:

Skylar I think this little girl has the most fantastic eyes that I have ever seen on a 3 month old baby!  Such a tiny thing and she already has so much personality!  She was such a good sport in the awful heat, especially after we took a break so she could have something to eat.

Interested in booking a session for you child?  These child sessions are perfect for little ones as their attention span is about 30 minutes or less, especially when having their pictures taken!

Bryan & Amanda's Baby Bump If there's any thing I love taking photos of more than kiddos, it would definitely have to be baby bumps!  And Amanda has just about the cutest baby belly I have ever seen.  Seriously.  My favorite thing to hear when planning out a session is that a client has the perfect place for their session, especially when they tell me it's their own home or land.  This field is behind their house and it is amazing!  We braved the heat, ticks, and man-eating-spiders (well, I guess they weren't that big, but I did have to knock a few off of my camera bag that I had set down in the field!).

Bryan & Amanda are absolutely adorable together and they are going to make fantastic parents.  Can't wait to meet this sweet baby!

Shoot With Purpose Workshop Our very first Shoot With Purpose workshop was a HUGE success!  I've had literally hundreds of photos emailed to me from the people who attended the workshop. We had such a fun time going over the basics of shooting in manual mode on our dslr cameras.  We started off the class with going over the workbook that each attendee got to take home with them.  Then we took everything we had learned and went outside with our cameras to practice shooting in manual mode!  Three hours went by so fast that we didn't realize that we went 30 minutes over.

Here are just a few of the photos that were taken during our session outside.

"The class was inspiring.  Can't wait to use what I have learned." -James

"Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.  I really needed a hands on class so I could get a feel for how ISO, aperture and shutter speed work together.  I know my understanding is much better now." -Roxanne

"Thanks again for the class! I've already recommended the class to my friend!" -Amy

"I ENJOYED the class and would highly recommend it to anyone.  I have taken classes with several other people and it just "clicked" with your teaching style." -Jennifer

Baby Sarah is 6 months old It's hard to believe that this sweet baby is already 6 months old!  It seems like just yesterday that she was in the studio having her newborn pictures done.  Now she is a smiley, chatty, sitting-up-by-herself, adorable six month old!  It was so hard to pick my favorites to blog, so I went with a few of her parents' favorites and mine.  I really can't wait for her 12 month session to see her again.  I love my First Year babies!

One Crazy Family I was trying to decide how to title this post and just decided that (and I'm sure Becky would agree!) crazy would be the perfect way to describe it.  From the moment they arrived we were all cracking up laughing at all the jokes, insults and insane posing that was going on.  I'm pretty sure I have never laughed so hard in my life during a session and actually had to throw a few pictures out because they were blurry from my laughing.

In spite of all that I managed to get some great "posed" shots and some awesome funny shots.  Becky and I go waaaaaaaaaay back and I was just thinking today how much has changed for both of us and all that our friendship has been through.  I'm thankful to still call her my friend and love that she asked me to capture her family exactly as they are.  :)

I saved this one for last.  It is my all time favorite "natural" shots EVER!  This happened to be one of the moments that we were just goofing off, but it so captures what a crazy, fun family they are!

Baby News I have to admit that I was SO excited when Christina got with me to set up a session to announce that they are expecting another baby.  So imagine my level of excitement the week before their session when I found out that her sister-in-law, Ana just found out that they, too, are expecting another baby and wanted to get in on the session to announce!  I love how both families had different ideas for their pictures and we had a blast bringing those to life for them.

We started with Matt and Christina and their handsome little guys.

Timothy and Ana already have two adorable little girls!  They were happy to hear the news that they are going to be big sisters.

Together these new babies will make Osborn grandbabies number 11 and 12!  I can't even begin to imagine what it's like when they ALL get together!

Reid's 9 month mini session I'm pretty sure this is one of the most adorable little boys I have ever taken photos of!  He was also very well behaved and seemed to enjoy having his picture taken.  I can't get over how amazing his blue eyes are!  Babies from the ages of 6-12 months are some of my favorite sessions.  Everyone loves pictures of babies, right?!  (Secretly it's mostly because they are too little to run away from me yet and it's easier to get them to smile than teenagers.)

Already a pro at chewing on grass.  :)

Chris and Vanessa's Engagement I had such an amazing time with this couple, both during their session and at the session premier!  I love when I leave a session premier feeling like I've just made new best friends.  :)  The story behind this session is so much fun!  Vanessa had been hounding Chris for a few months to have pictures done and he finally gave the go ahead.  So Vanessa contacted me and we started the plans for their session.  The next day Chris called me and told me he had some "alternative" plans for what he wanted to do during the session.  He wanted to surprise Vanessa with an engagement ring and have me capture that moment for them.  Since we had already planned a session there was no need for me to be all ninja and hide in the bushes to take pictures of that!

Here are some of their favorites from the session.  I am genuinely excited for their wedding in October!  I know I'm a nerd, but I just love getting into all of the details, especially wedding details!

This picture has "Save the Date" cards written all over it!

I have to admit that while taking these pictures I got a little teary.  I'll have to make sure to pack Kleenex in my camera bag when I shoot their wedding!

The smiles were even better after this!  I didn't have to say "cheese" at all.  ;)

Sage's Senior Session Oh, Sage!  You are truly beautiful beyond words!  I am so blessed to not only have you as a friend, but I love that your family has sort of adopted ours, giving me an Oklahoma family.  What an awesome session, especially when your dad showed up with Starbucks for everyone.  :)

Here are a few of my favorite shots.  It was so hard to narrow it down!  But this first one is definitely my absolute favorite.  Simply stunning.

This next one is probably my second favorite.

Love this last shot and the pretty blurred foreground and background (or bokeh for the photog nerds!).  Want to know how to do this with your DSLR camera?  I would love to teach you!  Check out this link for more info on the June 22nd photography class I'm teaching

Shoot With Purpose Class

***Please note that the time has been changed to 6:00-9:00 pm.  With the sun setting later we are adding the extra hour to get the most out of our golden hour session!***

So excited to be able to offer this class!  It is a basic photography class for those that have a digital SLR camera and want to learn to use it to it's potential.  During this three hour class we will learn how to get that camera out of auto mode and into manual.  We will learn how to adjust our ISO for different lighting situations, and how to set the aperture to get that dreamy, blurry background.  (It's easier than you think!)

We will talk about how to set your shutter speed to "freeze action", like this picture of Olivia running as fast as she could away from me!

At the end of the class we will take time to do a live session with 3 adorable girls. We will be shooting at "golden hour" to demonstrate the BEST time to take pictures!  During the session we will talk about lighting, posing, and how to get natural emotion (especially from kids!).

To attend, you will need a digital SLR camera (brand does not matter, but I am most familiar with Canon!), your owner's manual (this will come in handy if we need to find how to set your specific camera), and a 50 mm lens (not required, but highly recommended).

Want to know more?  Interested in attending?  Email me at

Ready to sign up?  Then click here to pay your $50 deposit to secure a spot in this class!

Cierra's Senior Session More and more I am finding that I really, really, really LOVE senior sessions!!!  This one in particular was very fun!  I SO wish this barn was closer than Kellyville or I would set up my studio right outside of it.  :)  But seriously, this girl is gorgeous!  I had a hard time choosing my favorites because she looks fantastic in every shot.

The Henrie's What a fun mini session this was!  It's always a great time when people come ready with their ideas.  Loved getting to capture this new baby announcement for them, even if most people already knew about it!

Special kisses!!

Adorable Baby Palmer Introducing the newest member of The First Year baby plan!  I seriously can not wait to see this cutie again at 6 months and 12 months.

All of our First Year babies receive birth announcements after their newborn session.  Here is a sample of Palmer's with the pictures, but her info has been left off.  :)

Sweet Journey I have to say that this was probably one of my favorite sessions!  When Lesleigh talked to me about doing this session I was totally on board.  This first picture is of Beverly (on the left) who is Journey's grandma.  Both were 3 and 1/2 years old at the time of the pictures and are wearing a dress that (if I remember correctly) was made by Beverly's grandma (so Journey's great, great grandma!).

Kadee's Senior Session We always have a blast with our senior sessions, but this girl is just WOW!  It is such an honor that this family has come back to us after we did their son's senior pictures two years ago (and their family pictures in the fall!).  Ok, I'm really not much with the words, so just check out the pictures!  (You know, a picture speaks a thousand words and all that.)

Wedding Fever I'm starting to notice the budding trees and pretty little flowers sprouting up all over the place.  All those things make me think of spring and spring makes me think of weddings!  I was digging through some of last years wedding shots and realized that I am having some SERIOUS wedding fever!  Anyone out there getting married?  Know anyone getting married that hasn't booked a photographer yet?  I'm dying for another gorgeous wedding like the one we did at the Dresser Mansion in Tulsa last June.

Derek's Senior Session Two weekends in a row we had senior boys, in downtown Tulsa, with the last name Bell and first names that start with a "D".  And no, they are not related!  I really do love how each session takes on the personality of the senior and even though we were in the same location we were able to get very different shots!  I had so many favorites from Derek's session it was hard to narrow it down to just a few to post.

Darian's Senior Session Here are a few of the parent's favorite shots from Darian's senior session in downtown Tulsa.  I love doing senior sessions in downtown just for the vast variety of shots that we can get just from walking a few blocks. Plus I get some good exercise!  This first shot was definitely a favorite with everyone!

The rest of December 2012 I figured the easiest way to get caught up on the months I didn't blog would be to combine them into one post!  I was much busier in December than I've ever been before.  We had such amazing weather right up until the last week in December.  Some of the sessions were a little chilly, but we all had fun anyway!

First up is the Green family.  I have been in the process of growing out my hair for the last year and I have to say these girls definitely inspired me to keep it up.  I would die to have hair this long and beautiful!!!

The next family came in all the way from Michigan just to have us do their family photos.  :)  Actually, the real story is that they were here on vacation and called to have me do their pictures while they were here.  This was another beautiful sunny day that we were blessed with just a week or so before Christmas!

The Jones family was a blast!  We had fun at this park in downtown Tulsa.  I can't wait to get pictures from them once they have their 7 canvas gallery up on the walls!!!

This last session was another gorgeous day at a park in Owasso.  The Smith's oldest son surprised them with this session as a gift just a few days before Christmas!

The Dunsons Love this family!  This was my first time to use the studio and it was so much fun.  We squeezed all 10 of the Dunson family in and had a blast trying to get some memorable shots after the adoption was finalized.

That's a good looking group!  I absolutely LOVE this one of Renee.  The little girls just looked darling in their pretty dresses.

The "big" kids.  :)

The couple in charge of all these kids!

Possibly the sweetest moment captured by Tim at the end of the session.

And this is definitely the absolute best photo bomb by Tim, EVER!  It will be hard for him to top this.  Aaron had no idea that Tim was in this picture until I posted it later on Facebook.

January Mini Sessions After Miss Sarah's newborn session I was able to squeeze in some adorable cuties for mini sessions!  We had a blast practicing for the February Love Mini Sessions.  Check out Mr. Joshua.  He is a handsome little man!  Watch out ladies!

This next little guy is not new to being in front of the camera for me.  At least this time I didn't have to run all over a backyard trying to catch a shot of him.  Andrew is getting to be such a big guy!

Next up were some more handsome little guys.  It was an afternoon of cute boys for me.  :)  Ryker was definitely the fastest crawler I've ever seen!  And Gage was more than willing to give some cheese for the camera.

Of course, I had to get some shots of my own kids while we were in the studio.  They were the least cooperative of ALL the kids we got to have fun with that day!  Luckily I managed to snag a few adorable shots of Isaiah and Olivia.

All the kids had fun playing with the vintage cameras.  Interested in your own cuties having a Valentine's Love Mini Session?  Here's some more info. Marked down to $75 for a 15 minute session and 5 digital images.  You can add on more digital images, prints, canvases or mini Valentine's cards.  I have two spots open.  10:30 a.m. or 12:00 p.m.  Email or call to book!

First Session of 2013 Our first session of 2013 was of beautiful, baby Sarah.  Last year we had the privilege of taking photos for her mommy and daddy's wedding (which happens to be on our anniversary).  Sarah is our first baby that we will get to follow throughout her first year.  Looking forward to seeing her again at 6 months and when she turns 1 year old!  Here are a few of my favorites from their session at the studio.

Thank You Today was an absolutely gorgeous day!  So I decided to brave the park with the kids.  I packed up the diaper bag with snacks and sippy cups, loaded the stroller, dragged Isaiah's scooter out to the car and as a last minute thought I grabbed the camera.  My goal this year is to take more pictures of our family, particularly after I realized there were whole months that went by last year that I did not take a single shot of us on my "real" camera (not on my phone).

As I was driving to the park I realized how extremely grateful I am to be able to have these moments with my kids.  I knew I wanted to be able to express that to all of you, the people who make it possible for me to stay home with my kids while they are little.  So, from the bottom of my heart, to all of our past clients and our future clients, thank you!  I appreciate every one of you.  When you are looking at your portraits on your wall I want you to know that I am so thankful to be at home with my kids and without you that wouldn't be possible!

Here are some snapshots of our afternoon at the park.  Miss Olivia did not want to look at the camera and Isaiah just wanted to make faces for me!

The rest of September! I'm only a month behind on posting a blog!  I had no idea how crazy the month of October was going to be.  Two weeks have gone by without any photo sessions and I'm only just now catching up from the craziness of October.

This first was a session focused mostly on the baby, Koen.  He is such a little cutie with the brightest blue eyes! None of my babies had these adorable little rolls like him.  We had a perfect day for pictures out at the memorial in Claremore.  Ethan was a little ham for sure and Koen was more interested in eating the grass.

Jeremy and Annie started their pictures in September but 5 minutes into their session it started pouring down rain!!!  So we took a few pictures and had to stop.  They finished up in October.  I always manage to have fun at a session, but it seems to be more so when it is with people we love and know.  Tim was able to meet up with us on this session so it was definitely a blast.  I love this family and am honored that they chose us to take their family pictures this year!

The Rutherfords I had the pleasure of photographing this amazing family, all of them this time, not just the girls!  :)  Probably one of my favorite families, mostly because the comments that are said during the session.  I wish I had written them down this time, because I don't remember if we talked about creepy eyes/smiles or funny looks.  I do recall a comment about a face looking like they were pooping, though!  Never a dull moment.

So between August and September it has been a really busy time around here!  My blog posts have obviously been few and far between, but I want to make sure to show off my spectacular clients!  So here is an update on some of the sessions I've had recently.  There have been a lot of babies and baby bellies :)  Hopefully I will be able to keep up better this month.

The Rays What an honor it was to take pictures for the Ray family!  After posting just one picture on my Facebook page and having over 1,500 views, 94 likes and 25 comments I would say that they are one extremely loved family.  I know that Tim and I both love them like family and our kids adore them.

Beautiful!  It was 105 degrees out the day we took these pictures and you would never know it!  They look amazing and fortunately the dead leaves made it look like a gorgeous fall afternoon.

And this was my most popular picture on Facebook!  It's no surprise.  What a beautiful family, both inside and out.  Love them all!

All That Jaz Makeup Sessions This last Saturday we had the chance to work with Jazmin Baker again!  She put together a before and after makeup session with 8 girls.  They had to come to the session with no makeup on and Jazmin used her creative skills to make them all look absolutely gorgeous!

We started the day off with Margo.

Jazmin said that Margo was her "beach model".  I'd agree that she definitely has the look of Malibu Barbie!

Hannah was next and it was a total shock to me that Hannah and Margo are sisters!  They were as different in their personalities as their looks.

LOVE the feather eyelashes!  Jazmin did an outstanding job on the butterfly eyeshadow.

Ashley came wearing a fantastic bright pink shirt.  Loved the bright colors and how Jazmin made her makeup compliment those colors so perfectly.

Megan was able to pull off the smokey eye look without any problems!  Beautiful!!!!

Jazmin's grandma "Grandy" was absolutely wonderful.  Her eyes look amazing!

This next set is of Jazmin's great-grandma "Grandmother".  Again, another outstanding job by Jazmin!

Sheridan's makeup turned out fantastic, as well.  What a beauty!

Sage, Jazmin's younger sister, was the last girl of the day.  Her theme was Marilyn Monroe and I think she pulled it off!

We had such a blast working with all of these girls!  It amazes me that Jazmin is able to take natural beauty and pull out the best features with her creativity.  Jazmin is available to do hair and makeup before any of our sessions.  If you think you would like to have her do your hair and makeup we need to know when you book your session in order to make sure we have enough time to get Jazmin scheduled.  I'm looking forward to using her when we have our family pictures done in September.

Bryan & Amanda What a great session we had with Bryan and Amanda.  It's hard to believe they have been married now for two years! They were an absolute joy to work with, and the camera loved them.  Congratulations on your first two years of marriage and here's hoping for many more to celebrate.

Andrew Pre-Hair Cut There's nothing quite like having your baby's pictures taken to make you realize that he needs a hair cut!  Katherine asked me to come over and take a few pictures of Andrew since he recently turned one year old.  About midway through our session she realized that maybe she should have gotten his hair cut before we took pictures!  I think he still looks adorable, even if his mommy took him that very day to cut his hair for the first time.

We had a little photo bombing by Abby, the dog.  :)

The Rutherford Girls These girls were an absolute joy to work with!  Even in the 90+ degree heat we managed to get a few smiles and a lot of silly faces.

My favorite line of the evening was from Lesleigh telling Kennedy, her oldest daughter to not show her teeth because it was creepy!  We all had a great laugh after that remark.  And plenty of laughs over Journey, the youngest, saying "Starbucks Frappuccino".

Just to show the "creepy" expression, here it is!

Mr. & Mrs. Smith I'm resisting the temptation to take a nap today so that I can wrap up this amazing wedding!  Jordan and Ashley were married at the gorgeous Dresser Mansion in downtown Tulsa.  We had such a blast capturing the many details of their special day.

I couldn't believe the heels on these shoes!  Had to snap a picture of them all lined up together.

I adore the bottom right shot that Tim captured as Tyler, Ashley's brother, was about to usher their mom to her seat.  And the eyes on Jordan and Ashley's daughter are to die for!  What a cutie!

Jason & Adrianne I'm not much for writing, but I'm going to give this blogging a try!

We had the pleasure of being part of Jason and Adrianne's special day.  Adrianne was my first client when I took newborn photos of Dylan 2 years ago!

They celebrated at the Stokely Event Center in Tulsa.  The vintage signs made for a unique and fun backdrop.

I especially loved the colors, since my own wedding we had this same color red!

The cake was beautiful and definitely delicious!  Tim loved the groom's cake, especially the placement so close to the vintage car.
